Ali Van Gorp – Grant Manager

Ali has been lived in Cochise County for 27 years and has been actively involved in the Bisbee community as a business owner. She has worked for the UA for the last five years in the capacity of STEM grants’ manger. She has worked on a variety of federal grant initiatives since 2008, including “green” stimulus grants for the Department of Labor, and STEM education grants through the Department of Education and the National Science Foundation. With a degree in Communications from San Francisco State University, she started her career in the insurance industry where she worked for over 25 years, most of that time as a successful entrepreneur. As a passionate advocate for education, she enjoys her work at UA, serving students and regional teachers.

Elizabeth Urias – Graduate and Financial Aid Coordinator

· Coordinates admission, matriculation, financial aid and course enrollment.

· Facilitates and informs students on petitions, course schedules and graduation processes.

· Communicates updates, while identifying current and potential needs and problem areas, referring students to appropriate resources for assistance.

· Assists with program outreach and retention.

Elizabeth is originally from Glendale, Arizona, but moved to Sierra Vista for the Graduate Coordinator position. She has a B.S. In Sociology from Arizona State University. She has previous higher education data management and customer service experience. Elizabeth feels honored to work in an environment where she can assist in empowering individuals as they catalyze their potential. She is excited to continue learning about education and the challenges each individual faces in striving to achieve social mobility. She aspires to someday enter the field of teaching and continue to further assist individuals to finely tune the instrument of their minds.

Isela Franco - Administrative Assistant

· Event coordination for M. Ed. Alternative Path Program

· Adminstrative/clerical support activities

· Preparation of paperwork relating to financial accounting of grant funds

· Researching, analyzing, and compilation of student and program data

Isela is a lifelong resident of the Bisbee/Sierra Vista, Arizona area. She has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Arizona, and is currently working on her master's degree in Public Health. She has years of experience working in various educational settings, including public schools, and later transitioning to higher education at Cochise College and currently the University of Arizona. Isela is extremely proud to work in support of the M.Ed. Program as she believes teachers are everyday heroes who impact the lives of so many day after day.
